New York Post on January 15, 2012, published a leading article on the latest nuclear scientist killing in Iran. Excerpts below:

A motorcycle throttle was probably the last sound Iranian nuclear scientist Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan ever heard, as two men on a bike attached a magnetic bomb to his car in Tehran last week.

A director at the Natanz uranium-enrichment facility — Iran’s largest — Roshan was caught in traffic when unknown assassins did him in.

Vroom, vroom — then boom.

Iran blamed Satans great and small for the attacks, but the United States denies involvement.

“The United States had absolutely nothing to do with this,” said National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor. “We strongly condemn all acts of violence, including acts of violence like this.”

Vietor is probably correct that Washington is not involved. If it were, the details would long since have been laid out on WikiLeaks.

Then who is killing the great nuclear scientists of Persia, anyway?

The Israelis wink every time an Iranian scientist goes up in smoke.

The Saudis see no benefit whatsoever in a nuclear-armed Iran — and, truth be told, neither do the Russians.

Still, whoever’s behind it, we certainly hope they keep it up.

If Iran’s nuclear scientists are learning to fear the sound of a gunning motorcycle, all to the good.

And if they’re beginning to look for new lines of work, even better.
